South Georgia Banking Company Celebrates Four Georgia Banking School Graduates

The graduation ceremony was held May 1 at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education and Hotel in Athens, Georgia. This year’s graduating class included 54 bankers from across Georgia, reflecting a strong commitment statewide to excellence in banking leadership.

A special recognition goes to James Mock, who graduated with honors, an achievement that highlights exceptional performance and dedication throughout the rigorous program.

About the Georgia Banking School

Established in 1961 and operated by the Georgia Bankers Association, the Georgia Banking School is a three-year, advanced banking education program designed to prepare bank managers to effectively and profitably serve their communities. Participants complete:

  • An intensive one-week residence session each year at the University of Georgia
  • Challenging home-study assignments between sessions
  • A comprehensive curriculum taught by UGA faculty, veteran bankers, and industry experts

The program focuses on deepening participants’ understanding of banking practices, regulatory environments, leadership, and management principles.

As Georgia Banking School Board Chair Peter Faser, founder and business strategy advisor of The Profitability Coach, noted:

“Graduating from the Georgia Banking School is a significant accomplishment and reflects a strong commitment to professional growth. These bankers leave the program better prepared to lead, make sound decisions, and help their institutions succeed in a competitive and evolving industry.”

Investing in Leadership and Community

At South Georgia Banking Company, we believe investing in our people directly benefits our customers and communities. The successful completion of the Georgia Banking School by these four bankers reflects our ongoing commitment to professional excellence, leadership development, and sound banking practices.

Please join us in congratulating Kelly Johnston, Brad Christian, Kayla Yawn, and James Mock on this outstanding achievement. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of their leadership and expertise across our organization and the communities we serve.
